My name is Jacqui, though I usually just go by J or Jax. I was born in Canada and moved to Australia when I was twelve. While I'm technically a Melbournian now, I grew up in the country and plan to move back there in a few more years, along with my partner and our two cats.
I'm artsy enough not to come across as a geek, and geeky enough to never quite pass as artsy. I'm totally comfortable with that fact. I love gaming, comics, film, anime and manga. I'm currently hard at work on a spec fic Novel That Has No Title Yet. I'm consistently fascinated by history (ancient or modern), am constantly reading, and love to cook. I am also learning Mandarin, though I'm still very much a beginner.
I'm queer, and I generally talk quite openly about navigating the world as a bi woman in a monogamous, heterosexual relationship. If your immediate thought when reading that statement is oh, one of those, then we're not going to get along. Fair warning.
Well, as I'm writing this it's about 40 degrees outside, so I'm kind of tempted to pen an ode to bubble tea...
Seriously though, previous journals have contained:
*writing posts (including snippets)
*general life updates
*the occasional review (I really want to review more, given my massive TBR pile).
*rants, now and then
Most kids- and their parents, for that matter- kind of perceive teachers as a specific breed of genie: the bell just rang and lo, she appears! Why tarnish that image with gritty reality?
Please feel free to comment if you'd like to be added. I have a pretty open friending policy, so it's more than likely that I'll add you back.
